My grandparents had gone to live with the sister of a family (grandmother) in Oakland, and my father later told my mother that if she ever sees this relationship through the streets, it was kill or to call the police.
Seriously, what effect? SF was mostly burned and needed reconstruction. I suspect this has led to increased interest in earthquakes and geology in the United States, and perhaps improve building codes in California.
I lost my swami hat and can not answer this question.
